5 Signs You Have a Rodent Problem This Winter

1. Droppings in hidden corners

The most common sign is small, dark droppings along baseboards, inside cupboards, or under the kitchen sink. Mouse droppings are about the size of a grain of rice, while rat droppings are larger.

2. Scratching sounds at night

Rodents are most active after dark. If you hear scratching, gnawing, or scurrying inside walls or the ceiling, you likely have unwelcome guests.

3. Gnaw marks and shredded material

4. A musky, ammonia-like smell

A persistent musky odour, especially in enclosed spaces, often points to rodent urine and nesting activity.

5. Grease marks along walls

Rodents follow the same routes and leave dark, greasy smudges where their fur rubs against walls and entry points.
